BzzAgent Free Product: L’Oreal Hydra Genius

L'Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Dry Skin
Recently I told you about Influenster, but they’re not the only place you can score free products to review – I’m also signed up for BzzAgent and they were kind enough to send me a complimentary full-sized L’Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care Moisturizer for Normal/Dry Skin in exchange for my honest review. Officially, a BzzAgent is a member of BzzAgent.com who receives free or discounted products and/or services, then shares their opinion about them with friends. I’m a beauty-and-skincare-obsessed weirdo who writes reviews in her spare time anyway, so this is obviously awesome for me.
Anyway, this is a review for moisturizer, isn’t it? So the packaging itself was quite luxe – a sturdy glass bottle with a pump at the top. I was into that. But while the box advertised the moisturizer’s aloe and hyaluronic acid content, things like glycerin and dimethicone were closer to the top of the ingredient list. Denatured alcohol was also close to the top of the list, which I found very off-putting as it’s very drying on the skin, but I tried the product nonetheless.

L'Oreal Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Dry Skin
As I suspected, this was a bit drying for me which defeats the purpose of it as a moisturizer. I used this in place of my normal moisturizer and sure, it made my skin soft at first, but within four days, I was getting dry patches on my cheeks. My skin also got oilier due to dehydration. The packaging boasts 72 hours of “continuous hydration,” but my skin starts looking more dehydrated than it normally does after just 8 hours (or less) when I use this. It’s also heavily fragranced which can be irritating to sensitive skin, so if you find that to be an issue, I’d avoid this. As much as I wanted to love this moisturizer because the packaging is so nice, it’s just not for me.

Influenster VoxBox: Origins Skincare

Influenster Origins VoxBoxDo you love mail? Do you love free things? Do you love getting free things in the mail? Because I do. I signed up for Influenster not that long ago and recently received my first VoxBox from them. A VoxBox is a box filled with goodies that the company sends you free of charge to review. They can contain a variety of brands or just products from one brand. My VoxBox was from Origins and it contained five sample-sized products that I promptly tried out and reviewed on Origins’ web site. Check out what I got!

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash via InfluensterChecks And Balances Frothy Face Wash
This face wash smelled like spearmint gum and left my face feeling really squeaky clean. I’m not sure if this was because it left a residue on my face or because it just really stripped my skin. I’d go with stripped, though, judging by the way my skin drank up moisturizer after. This is good for an occasional deep cleanse, but I think it’s too harsh for every day.

Origins GinZing Moisturizer via InfluensterGinZing Moisturizer
This moisturizer hydrated well without being too light or too greasy, absorbed easily, and didn’t break me out. The citrus smell was pleasant as well. My difficult to-treat combination skin is glowy and smooth in the areas where it’s normally dry AND the areas where it’s normally oily. I do recommend it.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream via InfluensterGinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff
This eye cream was light but hydrating and not greasy at all. I can’t speak to its effectiveness for dark circles because I don’t have them, but my undereyes definitely looked more hydrated and awake and my fine lines were minimized. It also had a slightly cooling sensation when first applied that was really nice and refreshing.

Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask via InfluensterClear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores
This mask felt slightly tingly when applied and it got very tight as it dried. I felt like I couldn’t move my face because it was turning to stone, which was a bit scary. My skin felt tightened and refreshed after washing it off and I was less oily the next day. I had an enlarged blackhead on my nose that started shrinking up immediately. So far, so good!

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins via InfluensterHigh Potency Night‑A‑Mins
This smells really good and is really hydrating. It has been helping clear up my dry, flaky skin since I started using it a week ago and I’m seeing my makeup go on much smoother in the morning. It’s a bit greasy, though, so it’s definitely for night-time use only, as the name implies.

Disclosure: I received these products as complimentary samples for testing, but all opinions are my own. Here’s my Influenster link if you want to join and start raking in the free stuff.
